Default Help - Rear Control Arms - Interchangeable parts??

I have searched the forum and have read many threads on which parts are interchangeable between S-Types, Lincoln LS & Thunderbirds. The only part I have a question with are the lower rear control arms.

Some say the 02 Lincoln LS arms such as MOOG Control Arm Part No. RK621951 & RK621952 have fit their 04 but not the 08. They say the 04 was a direct fit but the 08 had to be modified. One reasoning is that there was a change made in 07. Does anyone know if this is correct? I have a 06 and looking for anyone with experience if these Moog arms will fit a 06 directly?

My 04 was a direct fit, my 07 had to be modified at the hub connection to fit.

i think the rear knuckle changed in the middle of 05. i have dormans arriving in the mail today, I can check if it's a 54mm or a 59. almost 100% the mevotech and moog are coming out of the same chinese factory.

aftermarket arms sold for the 03+ lincoln LS and tbird are a scam, they're identical to the ones sold for 00-02.

If I just had to modify the cradle a bit for the shock that would be fine. However if I needed to modify the spindle mount as well I should probably try something else. From the posts I read there was a change in the shock mount design mid production causing some to be modified but no affirmative answer as to when.

As far as the rear spindle mount I am a bit perplexed, the same spindles are sold to fit 03-09 unless it's an XJR where there seems to have been a change starting in 08. I can see changing in mid year 07 but not understanding why an XJR of 06 would not be a direct fit as an 04.

I have a 06 Vanden Plas so I guess I will find out for sure Monday when the replacement takes place. It was just one of those things where you start searching for answers online and you keep digging and digging until your totally confused. After Monday I will have replaced the entire suspension front and rear suspension.

When I was searching I find the knuckles for years 04-09 being the same except on the XJR which is what is throwing me off.

Got the Moogs in and unless my eyesight and memory are way worse than I believe, they measure to be a direct fit. The bushings are 59mm and 54mm. With 54mm at the knuckle. I measured the shock mount and this too seemed to be exact as the 06.

The wheel hub measured 54mm. The frame mount is 59mm and 54mm.

On these Moogs I measured it at 54mm which would be a direct fit to the knuckle on my 06. I will update Monday when they are installed as I hate to read posts that are never updated with the outcome one way or the other.

Update: MOOG Control Arm Part No. RK621951 & RK621952 may fit the 04 but will not fit the 06 at the knuckle.

does fit the 04 im working on. if your VIN is greater than G41511 the 59mm arm will not fit period. X356 and X358s can’t use these arms

grind the knuckle or pay double for the lemforder that drops in.

I am ordering the direct fit. Wanted to give it a shot since I could not find a definitive answer in the previous threads.

You could possibly buy a set of 04 hub knuckles from a bone yard.
Should not cost you a lot for a pair, i have got them with the stock A B S sensors still attached
Then the older larger less expensive lower arms would fit ?
