Default Help sorting details of Alcon conversion on x358

Sorry if I've missed this somewhere, but I've not seen much more than people saying "they're PRETTY MUCH bolt on", let alone a write-up. I've also seen mixed info about knuckle/spindle designs changing, etc, etc. Point being, I wanna make sure I've got things straight before I go spending thousands on this. Sorry for the big list of questions, thanks in advance.

1- Lately I was hung up thinking my car is missing the parking caliper mount. But I believe I've figured out that it piggybacks on the tie rod bolt rather than having it's own mount? Speaking of, does anything need to be done to get the cable working with it?

2- What about brake lines? Naturally I want to use braided ones, but will XJ or XKR ones work, or is custom required?

3- I intend to rebuild them before installing but I've not yet researched those parts and the process. I've not rebuilt a caliper before but I've got a ton of experience turning wrenches and what not. Is it reasonable to plan to rebuild then myself? Also, do y'all have any recommendations on who to get rebuild hardware from?

4- Rotors. I'm planning to buy OE or similar now to see what I think and likely upgrade to 2-piece later. Do y'all have any recommendations on where to buy well priced but good quality ones in the USA, both OE and 2-piece? Thus far I've seen availability in the UK which would incur a ton of shipping and likely tariffs to boot.

5- Do the brackets in the pic below look correct for those that will bolt up directly to my '08 Super V8? Is my understanding correct that the brackets off the XKR work for the x350/8?

Just finished typing this out and boy is it a lot again haha. Welp, hopefully someone with experience in this matter pops by at some point.

1- I've now seen that the parking caliper does in fact have a bracket with 2 bolt holes to the spindle that face different directions. The spindles for the XK and XJ look the same aside from how the hub mounts. But where that bracket mounts...based on pics showing where the caliper sits, plus the brackets design, I'm afraid it may use one of the hub mounting bolts. Can anyone confirm how it mounts? If XK rear spindles are needed, will they work on an X358 and have the same geometry?

2- I put the car on the lift to replace a ride height sensor and found that I aihave braided lines all around. The caliper connection looks the same as the Alcon, but will x358 lines actually work?

3- Haven't found a source of rebuild parts that actually lists everything as available, going to reach out to Alcon.

4- I've seen some OE style rotors for sale in the USA....but I keep leaning more towards 2-piece. I've not yet found a supplier anywhere of 2-piece ones. I thought Wortec had made them but apparently not.

5- I'm confident those brackets are correct, but the parking caliper brackets are missing.

Considering the costs I've seen so far on rebuild parts, 2-piece rotors, and calipers/brackets, I'm starting to wonder if I'm better off sourcing a modern AP Racing kit instead. The factor that really got me thinking about this was how the Alcons don't have dirt seals. I don't know how bad it is living with that, but it sounds less than ideal, especially if it results in more frequent piston replacement. My initial search shows that I can get a brand new complete AP setup front and rear with custom brackets, custom rotor hats, and lines for about the same as Alcons...but then what to do for a parking caliper.....If I can size the rears correctly then the OE one will still work. Still need to figure out the cable situation from my x358 ATE caliper with the integrated parking brake.

You hit all the main points. The parking brake calipers need the brackets, most don't include that in the sale.

The Alcon calipers not having dust seals are a true track oriented caliper. The pistons should honestly be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled regularly. Dust seals are for street cars, no dust seals for track cars that see extreme rotor, pad, caliper temps. Been there, done that. You will never see pad/caliper temps on an XJ that would melt seals.

The lightweight 2pc rotors are a big deal for me, thus why i started gathering all the parts for the 380/376 setup instead using either VAP or Racing Brake 2pc rotors.
