Default Help with troubleshooting non-operation of windshield washer

2005 vdp.
My windshield washer has decided to give up the ghost and am not quite sure where to start. Checked the fuse and fluid level and all seems ok.
Not quite sure where the motor is, where do I listen to see if the motor is running?
Many thanks for any info...

Motor is on the bottom of the windshield washer fluid tank. Maybe some gunk. Maybe the pump gave up the ghost. Can access from beneath the car once you remove the valiance panel.

When I bought my 2006 X350 the washers did not work other than a very small dribble from the wipers. The remedy was to clean the suction strainer for the pump. The suction strainer is VERY small !/4" diameter. So it will block up very easily. To access the pump I needed to remove the left front wheel and the plastic inner guard. Then wrestle out the plastic bottle past a couple of hoses which are in the way, but it can be done. The pump you will see at the front of the bottle is for the headlight washers, the windscreen one is at the rear. Allow two or three hours for this job. Another option which I haven't tried as I wasn't aware of prior to my fix is to blow some compressed air into the tube below the wipers and this may clean the strainer but I cannot vouch for this method.

I just had this problem in my '05 super V8. My pump was fine, the issue turned out to be plugged intake in the washer bottle. The solution that worked for me:

1. remove the top cover at the rear of the engine bay that covers the cabin filter
2. on the right / US-passenger side of the car under the cover just removed there is a union where the hose from the washer bottle connects to the distribution lines to the jets
3. separate this union, and blast compressed air back into the hose from the washer bottle

That cleared the blockage for me. Of course that might not be your issue (e.g., pump failure, electrical, etc.) Good luck,

Does the 2005 have the washer at the front of the engine or at the firewall? If it's at the firewall, I found an issue with dirty cowl water running into the washer tank and turning it moldy. See my thread here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-moldy-202527/

If it's at the front (under bumper) then may not apply.
