Default How to...?

High folks!
Anybody knows how to remove ashtray base with cigarette lighter from center consul? I want to tap into back of cigarette lighter for a phone charger. So, I can finally close ashtray lid...
I know how to get through to remove radio and things, just need to know how to remove ashtray base.
Thanks in advance!

I think there is a retaining screw in the back of the ash tray.

Been a good while, since mine was removed
But seems i had console out, the stereo, along with the dash facias to replace the clock lite
Still had a time removing mine, it had the pay radio receiver installed in it.
All the wires were free, & still put up a bit of struggle being removed.
Replaced the complete ashtray unit with a used one sent to me by someone here.
Am ashamed to admit that i have forgotten which one of you sent it to me.
It was a tight fit but eventually went in, careful not to break the plastic mechanism.
Thanks again to whoever you are for the unit.

@Wingrider If I can tax your memory: how is the base of ashtray secured in place? I can't seem to find any fasteners holding it. The best I can think it can be a plastic plugs looking pretty much as mold ejector pin trace:

Picture shows radio in place. I will remove it; it is tacked in place for time being.
I hope it is not snapped in place there.

As i recall there is a bolt in the center plastic area, sort of between your circles.
Prying it loose gently, from the metal, gets it out, if memory serves.
Hope this helps

Take some duct tape and remoce the tiny plastic caps... underneath are 2× 20or 25 torx screws to remove

Could be i remembered wrong, sorry if so.
Do remember i looked at the shop manual, same as you did i'm sure
Looked at ashtrays on ebay, Petz is right, two holes for bolts, right under your red circles.
Was still a pain to remove,
