Exclamation How can I open the trunk?

How can I open the trunk of my 2000 Vanden Plas. The key won't work, I don't have a remote and the car is stuck in valet mode.

Welcome aboard! You'll find this to be a fun and friendly group. Dig in, poke around, and ask lots of questions.

If someone's post is helpful, please thank them using the "thanks" button.

If you have good information on a problem, please share it.

Post some pictures of your car when you can.

As for your trunk, do a search for "trunk" in the X308 forum (BTW that's where this thread belongs) and you'll find lots of info. Basically, remove the licence plate and use a long screwdriver through one of the holes to pop the mechanism open.

Does the key not turn, or?

I read on here about using a screw driver and can only see a screw on the left side of the right bottom hole. Is that where I need to look? If I could get it out of valet mode I could use the button.

Have you tried locking and then unlocking the car to get it out of valet mode?

Under the plate there are some black plastic bits of tape over some holes. I had luck going through the bottom left hand hole and feeling around with a screwdriver.

What happens when you try the key?

It doesn't turn all the way. It has opened it in the past but doesn't anymore

Spray WD40 or similar lube into the key hole and work the key back and forth.
