Default How crazy as a daily driver?

https://www.xtacenter.com/10768792/Photos/Details.aspx

$4500 and 81k miles... I have a 2001 bmw 325 wagon with 220k on the clock and never thought it would see that kind of mileage... my 88’ xjs chugs along nicely but I wouldn’t just get in and head out for a 2k mile trip... would a cheap XJR give me the confidence in always starting and making it from A to B without worry like my bmw? Many silly questions I’m sure but I’ve always loved the xjr. Only jag I’ve driven besides my xjs was a xj6 and felt very nice.

You only live twice...
...or in the case of some Jaguar owners here, half a dozen times at least!

Depends on the history of the car you buy but mine has been a daily driver for 2 1/2 years with no issues. They are a very civilised way to spend the commute time.

ive gotten quite handy with my mechanical work on the xjs... but that is for fun. I want a daily to go and only require the basics of work.

Yeah, Ive become a huge fan of Jaguars feel and luxury. Carfax shows this one was serviced incredibly well by the first owner. But it changed hands a couple times so you never know... from what I’ve read seems most have pretty good luck with the XJR6

I put 197,000 on a 95 XJ with no issues. Bought it with 120K on it and drove all over AZ in it. Put tires on and sold it for $1500 few years ago but..... it is a Jag so ya just never know.

I think it's going a bit overboard to worry if a "modern Jaguar" like the X350/X358 is suitable as a daily driver.
Of course it is! (assuming you can afford the mpg, and servicing if you don't do it yourself)

It is in the nature of these forums to concentrate on "issues", and reading them one might get nightmares of everything going bad at once.
I've only seen 2 issues on my 08 XJ6 so far, both minor and not breakdown potential.
It could even be worse if it's not a daily driver and sits around half the time (like mine does). It's my pet, but that's my problem.

I’m a believer in the, if you don’t use it you lose it frame of mind. I imagine I could fix any potential issues that may arise outside of a piston shooting out the top of the head... just wondering if there are issues with the XJR6 that have left people stranded that are preventative etc. I like the xjr8 as well but have heard more issues and I like the looks of the 6 better.

I think you might get more vehicle specific feedback in the X308 forum?
