how to get glas of headlights easy ?
My headlights show light signs of fog on the inside of the glas.
jtis states to remove the bumper to get hold of the headlights.
Is there an easier way to dismount just the glas ?

Hi nebelfuerst,
From my own investigations, the front glass or lens appears to be adhered to the lamp housing and is not designed to removed and replaced. The EPC shows only the complete lamp assembly available for replacement. And as far as I know, the front bumper cover must be removed or at least loosened in order to remove the headlamp assemblies.
Maybe another member will prove me wrong.
Cheers,
Don

I had to remove the complete bumper to clean my lens properly. Someone has mentioned that you can undo all the screws etc and just move the bumper out of the way by an inch or so and then remove the headlight assembly.
I have often thought about removing the lens from the housing, but they seem to be clipped and plastic welded in place to maintain waterproofness.

I'm not sure if this mounting method applies to your model, but the headlights on mine are mounted on ball-ended screws so they can pivot when the light height knob is operated. The heads snap off VERY easily - and finding new ones will drive you drink!
It also means that removing the headlight takes a really good sudden pull - almost guaranteed to break the mounts.

The plastic covers from most headlights can be removed by heating the sealant glue and very carefully prying it apart. The Stype guys do it all the time. I'm considering doing it myself in order to retrofit HID projectors.
You'll have to reseal the assembly properly, otherwise you'll get condensation and possibly water ingress. Try at your own risk.

I just refurbished my HID,s very expensive job mine where foggy on the inside as well
The outside had started to go a bit strange
I used a buffing wheel on a long shaft holding the light to do the inside it was a PITA same as outside took most of the day
I also replaced my ballasts and globes as HID,s are only good for a period of time my XJ8 is an 04 model its completely different now with new ballasts and globes but it cost a fortune
My wife's jeep I just bought white globes from Phillips lot cheaper same effect
I had the same problem with my old XJR6 but the fogging on the inside washed of with dish-washing detergent the beauty of real glass headlights
I get all my globes from here Headlights, Car Lights, Headlight Bulb, Car Bulbs, Car Light Bulbs | PowerBulbs

a very thin bead of clear silicone should be fine, applied to the plastic side then carefully place the lens on to it, practice a small silicone bead on cardboard 1st to get a feel for the application 👍

Hi nebelfuerst,
Are you sure the fogging is not water?
If it is condensation it can be removed by inserting
a flexible length of thin plastic tube after removing the globe.
I fitted some paper to the end to absorb the water.
