How to replace power outlet and cigar lighter bulbs
When I went to replace these bulbs, I couldn't find any information out there with various searches, so I thought I'd post my findings to save others some trouble. If you are like me, you don't want to start prying against surfaces unless you know that is what is supposed to be done, lest you break some irreplaceable or needlessly expensive part.
The X350/358 has three of these bulbs. One thing to check before you start - follow step 1, and clean the contacts on the holder and lighter/power outlet with a pencil eraser first, and check operation. It may just be dirty contacts vs. a burned out bulb.
Begin by following the instructions on removing the problem outlet, either the ashtray in front or the outlet cluster in back. Once you have those out, the bulb holder can be gently pried off of the receptacle.
Once it is off, you can see the tabs on which it is secured.
Looking at the bulb holder, it doesn't look like it come apart, but it does. Insert the screwdriver (or prying tool of choice) between the housing as shown, on both sides, and gently pry to release the tabs.
When done, you will be able to see the hooks that need to be moved in the middle. Be careful here, I ended up breaking one, but there are enough clips that it was still functional.
Last, release the hooks on either side in the middle, and pry upward to open the holder.
Once it is open, you will be able to see the bulb, and pull it gently out with needle nose pliers.
Snap it all back together and away you go. The bulbs are available as part number C38966.
