Default If Jaguar were redesigning the X350/8 Today what suggestions would you like to make?

As in this thread
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-make-161801/

If Jaguar were redesigning the X350/8 today and called on existing owners for some feedback or ideas, what kind of improvements would you suggest they made?

This Can be anything you like, from something very minor, to the edition of another Engine in their range. (and optional your reason why)

For me:

1- Make better use of the air suspension. Give us options for stiffness and comfort. Ride height. Etc...

2- A place to store modern sized smart phone.

3- Limited slip differential

4- Rear seat cupholders are unpractical.

5- Move the ignition key up. Or better yet place it in the "J-shifter" like Saabs.

6- Please keep the J Shifter instead of the ridiculous Circular knob. Give us options of P - R - N - D on the right side. The left side should be "Sport" then next upward notch should have "T" for manuamatic shifting. I can draw this if it isn't still clear

I am obviously ignoring the obvious informanent (NAV, Phone, Rearview camera, Stereo etc) system update to 2016.

Agree with all above. Too bad they aren't soliciting feedback.

+1 on keeping the j shift it is fun and practical to use if you know how. Also allow it to manually control first gear as well. Upgrading to the 8 speed would be awesome.

You've pretty much nailed everything in the first post.

There is another thread here on the forum https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...your-xj-32748/ which would probably cover all the other little niggles and gripes.

Bonnet (hood) release on the RHS, the driver's side (!) on RHD cars.
AWD option.
Head Up Display for SatNav.
SatNav with speed-limit info (somehow)

KEEP current key-ignition with remote entry - more secure than total-keyless systems.

8-speed / 9-speed (ZF plan/make a 9sp for AWD) ... Yes
Avoid stupid rotary knob gear selector ... Oh Yes !

Otherwise ...

Also agree with the suggestions.
But all in all it is not that much, our X350/8s are great!

I think I'd be happier without the air suspension, and also the CATS system seems to serve no real purpose. I believe the adaptive shocks are now an optional extra on the current cars.

1.Keyless Entry / Button Start, jaguar where really behind with this, Mercedes had this since the early 90's!
2. Soft-close doors, again MB.
3. Limited Slip Diff on performance models
4. Easier audio connectivity
5. More real leather on dash/door cards

Keep it aluminum. Keep the William Lyons line. Maintain some modest cues from the past XJ's. Present newer technologies, like iDataLink.

Not so sure about #1. I have a friend with a 2010 S550 and another friend with a 2012 E350 and neither has push-button start. They have that key fob thingy that must be inserted and turned.

Driving my car today.... I noticed something that truly stunned me... cooled seats don't cool unless climate control is on. What if I want to cruise with windows down and sunroof open and want little cool air around me?

Another thing that I truly wish my car had like my old XJ81... Is a dash indication of sport mode being active.

Last comment, the wood trim although gorgeous isn't as great as XJ40/X300. The curves make it look fake. The gold border inlays are missing. The VDP has them but they are tasteless and an after thought. I also wish the window controls had wood surrounds as well. Check out X300 VDP interior and you will understand what I mean.

I'd like the X308 body style, but aluminum instead of steel. 5L V8 would be sweet.

Eliminate the air suspension system entirely, key ignition (as before), J-shift (as before), remove the speed limiter, maintain the styling, keep it aluminum (as before), and a larger engine.

I was slightly off with the date, 1998 was the first car to have it, the W220 S-Class.

I have even seen Nissan Micras the same age as my car with it!

Infinitis from the same era also had push button start and a much better infotainment system. But the Jag has a much better sound system. (Bose sucks)

Limited-slip differential most important.
Replace rotary gear selector with lever and switchable light indicating current gear in dash.
Move stability control off indicator to where its switch is.
Supercharged V-8 + AWD.
Better selections for OEM tires.
Quieter exhaust and road noises. My car should be very fast and silent.
Go back to pre-history flip up/down interior rear view mirror.
Do something with low beams. Bright, short illumination, sharp cutoff is NFG.
Start and stop engine remotely for pre-warm and cool.
Go back to a long trunk lid and huge trunk. I hate mail-box slot type boot lids.
Make it look like a Jag. Not like everybody else.

Humbug 2 not sure the x350/8 ever had a rotary gear lever and they certainly did a V8 supercharged version maybe I'm wrong
