Intermittent clicking from dash
There are several clicking noise threads but have not found one like this so here goes.
This 2004 XJR with 72k has recently developed a fairly loud intermittent and irregular clicking sound from within the dashboard on the passenger side. It seems to be originating from behind the glove box release button.
Yesterday I took the car out for about 20 miles. The sound came and went on start up, at idle, at freeway speed, a/c on or off and lasts about 2 or 3 minutes. And it is not regular duration. By this I mean it changes rhythm.
Any ideas guys?
Thank you,
Doug

Today's drive allowed only one occurrence of the clicking sound and it happened after driving the car for about 20 minutes, shutting down for a half hour and restarting to head back home. It lasted for about 2 minutes.
The sound regularity is like a morse code tapping so its very confusing to me what it could be.
Passenger airbag???
Thanks,
Doug

My 2004 XJ8 just developed a clicking noise in the dash board. Car as 84k miles and sound appears to drift from the left side of steering wheel to the right. Adjusting, radio, heater etc did nothing. Pattern is random and could be a flasher? Will check this weekend.
