Hi warsaw,

I'm sorry to hear you are frustrated with your Jaguar. Having to follow specific drive cycles to complete readiness monitors is common to many modern cars, and even Toyotas and Hondas need new gas caps from time to time also to cure a small or large EVAP System leak, so it's not just because it's a Jaguar.

If you will let us know the year, model and engine of your Jag, and the specific symptoms you are dealing with, we will try to help.

Cheers,

Don

You have my feelings, I fully understand this frustration and am right in the middle of it myself.
Just as a reassurance, since I had to park my car due to rear brake failure (the discs finally arrived yesterday) company-wise I had several other cars of renowned brands to drive and nothing gets close to the driving feeling of my XJ8. The direct comparison made me decide that I will not chase the cat away but still try to get her on the road again.
Well, at least for the moment ...

Guys your jag is your OTHER WOMAN!
Pay up baby if you want to play......
But since most of you cant add air to a tire....
All you have to do is drive the car up to 50 miles because you put a new battery in!!!!!!!!
You have to cycle the car around , that's all......
If the person putting in the battery did it right , they should have put the 9 dollar code saver in the lighter.........
Just run the car for 50 miles, its in sleep mode...
Now take your VIAGRA and get back in the game!!!!!!

On another note.........if the seal is broken on the cap , once you put the new cap and run it 50 miles it will work.
Do you have any codes ?

I've added the vehicle details in your post #5 to your forum Signature so they will appear automatically with your next post.

1. I ask ALL members to do this in my 'welcome' reply to their Intro post - you have ignored this
2. there are 4 requests in this thread for relevant codes/readiness monitoring - you have ignored this

If you want help, give the relevant technical details on codes and incomplete monitoring cycles.

If you simply want to moan, you have made your point. I can close the thread and everyone here who has been trying to help you can move on.

As stated in multiple posts, Evap needs a cold soak overnight and a tank not too empty or too full.

The other may mean there's a fault such as an exhaust leak or other leak etc.

I don't recall a secondary air injection readiness monitor but I may be wrong. Is the problem a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)? If so, can you report the exact code?

I am attaching two documents that may be helpful. The first explains how the readiness monitors work. The second gives specific drive cycles you can follow to reset the readiness monitors, assuming there are no current malfunctions in those systems.

Cheers,

Don
