Jaguar advises against using soapy water to find air hose leaks
Seems like everybody here who inspects their air suspension for leaks uses soapy water on the tubes. Jaguar service bullletin XJ204-01 says,
Thoughts on whether to take this warning seriously?
Caution: When diagnosing leaks in the air suspension, do not use soapy water as a means for detecting the source of an air leak. Water can be harmful to the air suspension system, if it enters the air tubing. Use only Gotec Leak Detection Spray, part number C2C22398, for this purpose.
Wel, nobody is suggesting flooding the parts with soapy water ! Spraing on a light coating is unlikely to do harm provided the damper valve electric connection port is protected. The shock in the wheel well gets a whole lot more damaging stuff thrown at it than a spritz of soapy water !
Not to mention, use:
-Jaguar Screen Clean Paste
-Jaguar Glass Cleaner
-Jaguar Screen Wash
-Jaguar Winter Care Kit
-Jaguar Soft Top Cleaning Kit
-Jaguar Aerial Cleaning Kit
-Jaguar Vehicle Shampoo
-Jaguar acid-free wheel cleaner
-Jaguar Tar Remover
-Jaguar Polish
-Jaguar Leather Cleaner
-Jaguar Upholstery Cleaner
and of course, contact your Jaguar Dealer/Authorised Repairer for advice.
