Hello, I'm new to the jaguar forums and have a few quick questions. I just bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 at a auction, got it for a steal. Anyways I drove it all the way home with no problems and everything worked on it. Within the past week I noticed a loud thump/Clunk every time I go over a bump. What is really weird is if I have my foot on the brake the noise will go away. It seems to be coming from the passenger side, but I'm not sure. I'm going to take it to my mechanic to see what he says. I took a video of me driving and you can hear the noise, I can send it to anyone that wants to take a look at it. Thank you,

An immediate inspection is essential from what you say about braking suppressing the noise. What miles on the car ?

 

It has 161000 on it. I pulled the tires and the rotors and pads look brand new. Carfax said it had a full service at 154k. I'll set up an appointment with my mechanic.

 

Just to second Fraser's caution - you may have a serious safety issue so you don't want to drive the car unnecessarily until you've determined the source of the noise.
