Just bought a 2005 XJ8L
Traded in a 1999 DeVille on a 2005 XJ8L. I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to thank this great community for such great support. Love the car. Great ride! thanks.
Thanks for replying; I did look in the owner's manual but will look again. I did get on the Jaguar.com site and found the schedule there. It doesn't look like there's a Clymer, Haynes, or Chilton available for these cars; is there a factory service manual? Thanks for the replies and help.

Welcome! Ha- you and I made a similar move...I traded my 2001 DeVille for my 2006 Vanden Plas. The DeVille was a smooth and comfy commuter car but the XJ8 is is a different league when it comes to style, performance, and quality.
Enjoy your upgrade!

Yes, SVL77, my 1999 50th anniversary DeVille was a great ride; I maintained the car myself (using the Haynes manual) and never had a problem with it. After 10 years though I would have had to buy new headlight buckets and the windshield washer stopped working. In June I drove the car from Jupiter, FL, to visit my parents/bothers/sisters in Plattsburgh, N.Y., 3,400 miles round trip in comfort and without a problem. But the Xj8 is a super automobile, the ride is every bit as smooth as the DeVille; there's just something "extra" about the Jag that is had to define. If I could just get my hands on a manual . . .
2005 XJ8L - You have a fine machine there. I know, I have one too. We're getting ready to take it on a long week-end down the Oregon Coast. I can't wait.
I have always maintained my own cars, and I've always had a service manual (factory version if possibe) until now. You cannot get a service manual for any XJ from 2004 on unless you are an authorized Jaguar Service Center. This is a significant irritation to me.
I also cannot get a service manual for my 2006 XK8, but I do have the JTIS for 2003 and it's not too much different.
Having said all that, ALLDATAdiy.com does have all the info you need for a 2005 XJ. You can subscribe for $27 for one year or $45 for 5 years. The only problem is that if you don't want to use your computer in the workshop, you need to print whatever you want to use. That's a bit inconvenient.
Anyway, you've got one of the finest road cars available there. Enjoy it.
Cheers,
