Just a quick thank you to...
Dan over at Nalley Jaguar, I ordered his headrest/screens he has advertised at such a great price, they arrived in 4 days, I had them re-skinned in the dove color my XJR is. They fit perfectly and I had the system professionally installed. I chose a single disk player (small unit) for the glove compartment and I can switch from my ipod (lots of movies for the kids) or the dvd player. It all works like a charm. Since this is a XJR and not an S type the control unit went inside the front center console. I know this thread is worthless without pictures but I just picked the car up late this afternoon and will take some tomorrow and post them. Thanks again Dan! And to the fellow chatters on this board, I know a few have already done this too.
Question:
So you ordered and recieved an S-Type kit and the headrest post(s) fit the XJ properly?
I ordered and recieved an X-Type kit and the headrest post(s) were a different width, and actually were wider than the XJ post spacing. This created additional setup labor 'fitting' of the entertainment headrests on the stock headrest frame.
Thanks!

Here are a couple pics of entertainment kit posts and frame and fitting that on XJ posts...
It would be great news to learn that the S headrests fit XJs with no modification!
Thanks albert328gts!

Frustrated that I could not upload all photos in one post. Ultimately this exactly what I wanted and its OEM. I know their are probably better units out there but that's what I wanted. I bought my car last year at Silver Star Jaguar in Thousand Oaks California, with 29000 miles, it now has 33xxx, 3 year factory warranty so I plan on keeping it for a while. The Stype headrest are a direct replacement of to the xj series, although the xj seem to have slightly more padding up front.
Yes absolutely my motor raises and lowers the headrests.
The 'control pod' looks great in the center console!

I saw this picture of your setup in the rear arm rest. Can you give me details on how you did this?

Did you need to lengthen the cables to get them into the rear console?
45...
I refit and installed the headrest side of the project and had it running on temporary power from the cig lighter (see pic). After not being able to remove the rear seat and not knowing where/how to get permanent power to the system, I sought help from a local pro installer.
To answer your question, the cables did not need to be lengthened, though the installer did caution me about bringing the driver's seat fully forward. The seat is usually positioned more to the rear, so this is not an issue for me...
There is a wire loop (slack) behind the seatback to allow the headrest to fully extend. The wires travel down under carpet and along the 'hump'. The rear seat base was removed and the system gets power from the rear heated seats. (I am thinking the heated seats are on a 30amp fuse...??)
Then cable travels behind the rear armrest and to the control pod. (I like the SuperV8 setup so much, I wanted the pod in the armrest.)
Thanks-
