Looking good...beautiful color.

Isn't it a great feeling when you get your car sparkling clean and tuck her away under the cover? When you eventually pull back the cover it's like Xmas morning when you were 5.

You're like me, I like a clean car, especially the shiny chrome bits. I see you also keep the exhaust pipe trims polished just like I did with my XJ6. (and also with my Mazda Xedos). Your car is almost identical in colour to my Rover 75 in Wedgwood Blue. What do Jaguar call theirs ?

PS - you'd better not see my car right now, we have had a bad winter here in the UK and it continues - salt everywhere, Ugh !

It really is the best feeling when you uncover the car when you get home after a long time! She is in for a treat when I get back new pads and rotors all around. I'm going with EBC slotted rotors and the Red Stuff pads. One of the wheels has been squealing like a banshee and I have been told that all four corners are under 1/3 pad life left. When I go back for summer break i'm ordering up a new wiring harness so I can finally install the Navigation screen and computer that I bought last summer. A buddy and I tried wiring up the whole thing ourselves but when it was finished the image on the screen was ghosting pretty badly and I could barely use the touch screen at all. I understand that that's because the wire we used wasn't shielded and that a new harness should fix that. I just had the serpentine belt done over winter break and now the engine sounds so much smoother if you can believe it. Hopefully over the summer I will also get the door fixed from somebody sideswiping my car in a parking lot and then i'm going to get her professionally detailed (its been almost two years since she's had a waxing) and then she will be perfect. This summer is going to be great!

Fraser- The color is called Zircon Blue

Lookin good Matt.....such a shame she has to sit all that time though
The EBC parts will really make a difference both in stopping power and brake dust....all good there!
My X type was Zircon blue too.....lovely colour

Don't believe him Matt - he lies like a cheap rug.....lol
He'd drive her any chance he got!

Just a thought on the cover Matt - Don't you find it ultimately causes damage to the paintwork as you put it on / take it off.......slight scrathces that build up over time?

Noise from serpentine belt on the V8s has been an issue, apparently, albeit a small one. At least you don't have cambelts to replace. Rover V6 has 3 and I had mine done Jan 2009 which cost over £400

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Jim- the cover I bought is very soft and I haven't seen any scratches forming at all i'm keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully I wont have any problems with it in the future.

Fraser- ouch luckily the damage wasn't too bad for me with the serpentine belt at $200

While I was shopping around for the EBC brakes I saw that they produce their own fluid. Is there any advantage to using theirs over the normal stuff that I would get when I do the brakes?

Thanks,

Mat

Hey,

Does anybody know anything about the brake fluid that I mentioned in my previous post?

Thanks

Mat

I had a look on the EBC website, and it states that their brake fluid is subcontracted to a sister supplier of brake fluids not named. From what they state on the fluids they sell they will be as good as most others, probably better. There is a lot of information given on how to choose a fluid which makes me think they know their stuff.

Thanks Fraser I think I will go with the fluid then. I'm probably going to buy from perfectbrakes.com I'm a little worried though as they don't have the XJ8 listed but they do have the VDP 4.2 listed as 2003-2006 and the XJ8 listed as 2006-2008 but I'm pretty sure that the VDP is the same mechanically as the XJ8 its just the interior thats different. I priced it out with the EBC redstuff pads front and rear and the EBC ultimax plain rotors front and rear, plus the fluid and it came out to $395.34 which is a lot better then what Jaguar is probably charging for the parts. Am I correct in assuming that the parts they have listed for the VDP will be exactly the same for my XJ8?

Thanks

Mat

Looks similar to mine! But mine is in Seafrost. I also recommend the chrome mirror covers.

George,

I will definitely be ordering the chrome mirror's, I found a guy online who actually has the OEM caps new in the box that came with the VDP I think it will look like a factory fit with those instead of the 3M tape cap that Mina Gallery is offering. I also just finished ordering the brakes! i'm so excited to finally get new brakes put on because I always thought that the brakes on this car weren't the greatest.

Hello Mat, just a quick question about the wiring harness. I have all the bits and was going to make my own harness based on info from another post. However, the connector into the existing heater/air array is different than what goes into the new Navi head unit. Any idea where to get an adapter for that???? Or, where are you ordering your harness??

Thanks,

Tim
