Dear all,
A friend of mine brought my 2004 XJR back with the key stuck and I have not been able to remove it, even with a battery disconnect and a few more shennanigans.
Started taking things apart to try to access the cylinder as you can see but now I am stuck, the cylinder is attached to a metal panel that I cannot remove (some screws are inaccessible). The ignition cylinder seems encased in a plastic cover, so I have not been able to locate a "hole" to depress to release the key as advised for other XJ models. Quite frustrating.
Does anyone know how to get that cylinder taken out? Cannot locate screws, but the access is barred on the left side by a solid triangle of metal.
Thanks

Can you pop open the key fob so you can strip it down to just the key shank.
Hopefully you can then remove the dress panel to get some more access to the problem.

It seems that the key is not in the position in which in can be removed, and it can only be turned into the correct position if the transmission is in "Park".
I would suggest to try to see whether the transmission is really in "Park" and to try to turn the key more to the left into the end position in which it can be removed.
Best regards,
Thomas
