Leaking transmission

The electrical sleeve in the transmission is leaking ATF. I noticed it the other day – an approx. 6”pool of ATF on the garage floor – I have not driven the car since and the leak stops when the car get cold again. I am sure this is the first time it has leaked on the floor. Would it be safe to drive it to the shop? - it is a 20mile drive.
Thanks
Martin

If you have not noticed a change in the way the gearbox shifts I would say that not enough fluid has leaked to cause problems driving the car to a repair shop. I had a customer that drove the car for weeks with a fluid leak and that caused shift faults and codes to be set in the TCM. I had to clear adaptations to get the trans to shift properly when the leak was fixed and the fluid topped up.

Thanks for the reply Bob,
I thought about how many years of my lifespan would be taken by actually driving to the dealer with a leaking trans - so I decided to have it towed - my wife told my that towing is covered by the car insurance as well. My concern is: the 6" pool was what the trans lost after it got into the garage how much did it loose on the 6miles drive where the leak occured - no idea. I for sure understand your thinking, but the prospective of 20miles of stress changed my thinking.
