Leather Seat Cleaning
Just relating my experience with cleaning light colored leather seats. We have a '04VDP with a Dove grey leather interior. The driver and passenger seats and armrests were showing a little grime and I purchased two of the name brand leather cleaner and conditioner products to clean and condition the seats. Both of these products did a nice job of conditioning the leather but neither cleaned off all of the grime even after numerous treatments. My wife suggested that I try an old leather cleaner and treatment known as saddle soap. Her family had used this method for years with excellent results. I purchase a can of saddle soap and used a damp terrycloth rage with a generous application of the soap and wiped the treated area with a clean damp terrycloth rag. The grime on the seats and especially on the armrest was gone and the surface looked like brand new. The soap also left the leather feeling like new. Just passing along my findings and the saddle soap is far more economical that the name brand products.

Thanks for the information Slate04VDP.
I'm partial to Leatherique Leather Rejuvenator/Prestine Cleaner.
The Rejuvenator sits on the leather for 24 hrs while lifting the dirt etc then the cleaner reveals pure clean leather.
I then top off with Gliptone Leather Conditioner which reconditions and brings back the leather smell. used it over 25yrs. I wont go any other way and can highly recommend should you try again :0)

Dr Jackson's Hide Rejuvenator, as well as Fiebing's golden mink oil.
Are both great products for the leather,
After cleaning with the saddle soap.
The leather soaks it in softening, & helps in shedding water.
Have used both products on all my motorcycle leather gear for many years

To combat any real stubborn dirt anywhere - and that includes Jag leather seats - I use GUMPTION. I am in Australia and this is an Australian product, normally used in the household.
I did it last on a really dirty Jag, on the inside, which I bought in that sad condition.
After gumption treatment the leather seats get a treat with some leather rejuvenator.

> Bees wax with eucaliptus
I actually do not know that. I have to go and look for bees wax with eucalyptus, thanks.
I just looked for it: Funnily enough, this "Australian" products seems to be marketed only in the US, not in Australia. I found something here, which is from New Zealand. I'll keep looking.

I suspect that something is fishy about this product, as the internet site does not exist anymore. If definitely existed once, as I found a facebook link about that product, also linking to the internet site, which - again - does not exist anymore....
which product Peter? You don't say which of the comments you're referring too.
I was referring to the most recent post before my post: www leatherseal.com au

OK, that works - but it comes back to what I wrote several posts above: It is not an Australian Product!
The word "Outback" in the packaging suggests, that this product is from Australia (there is a lot of "Outback" in Australia - or do you also have an outback in the US?).
But it is made in the US.
And the interesting thing about such a product (this is where this thread above started) would have been that there is eucalyptus oil in there (for the smell).
I can't see that this US product uses eucalyptus.
Regardless, if that product is any good apart from stealing the word "Outback", it is not an option for me anyway due to prohibitively high postage costs from the US.

Know the stuff is usually pricey.
They had some sort of deal going.
At the motorcycle trade show.
Next to all the leather good venders.
That made the pricet ALMOST reasonable.
All i know is that It works well, & smells nice.

The brand of saddle soap that I found is Kiwi Saddle Soap. It cleans quickly and leaves the leather like new, even the smell. Our leather is very light in color (dove grey) and this treatment did not affect the original color.
