I’m trying to replace my license lamp assemblies. I see no way to remove the plastic panel to which the license plate attaches. Does anyone have experience doing this?
I managed to replace my license plate light holder without removing the plastic panel that is attached to boot lid.
1. remove boot(trunk) lid liner; it is held with few pinecone fastreners. you will need to remove boot/trunk lock plastic panel. It took ma a while to figure how it snaps in place after threaded fasteners removed. You just have to pry one side so it will slide off. Can't remember which side.
Then you need to remove metal looking plastic trim with "jaguar" logo. This is simple it is help in place with few nuts that are accessible after tumk liner removed.
Then you have unobstructed access to lacense plate lights and their housings.
Sorry, I did not take any pictures when I did mine.

I did exactly that but I could not remove the license lamp assemblies. Could you give me any tips on how it could be done? Because it does not seem possible with the large plastic license plate panel attached to the car.
As Koshka sez; to remove the entire chrome assembly, you must go in from the inside (remove trunk lid liner) and then you will see two 10mm nuts the secure the entire assembly to the actual trunk lid. Be very careful, as the bottom section of the lid assembly is actually plastic (like bumper material) and can become brittle with age and cracks easily.
In the attached picture, you will see where a) I retrofitted LED lamps in the housing, b) the small clips that hold the lenses in place for LP lamps, (either side of both LEDs), and where I retrofitted a matching chrome Rear View Camera (to the left of the keyhole for trunk lock). Also note I added a small plate and fastener so that the camera is nice and secure (I did not trust plastic to take stress of torquing down on camera.
In theory, the license lamp assemblies can be removed without removing anything else. In the picture posted by ctsemicon, you can ee where the lamp assembly can be unclipped.but it seems that in his case the license plate itself is in the way and impedes the removal.
The center clips, left and right, can be pressed inward. Take your time and apply just enough pressure to get them to release. It is a pain, but it can be done. DO NOT attempt to remove the rear trunk panel. It us glued and snapped in place and WILL shatter. Don't ask me how I know.

+1 on license plate removal!
I did that too. Like Ctsemicon I installed rear view camera, I just did it in reverse:
1st I installed camera;
Then 6 month later license plate light went out; trying to remove lens, it shattered. So I did the whole thing again and this time I replaced both lamps sockets and lenses. Plastic was crumbling in my hands after age and heat it saw in it's life. Changed lights to LED lights

there is no way those assemblies can come out without removing the trunk panel. I’ve already removed everything BUT the trunk panel and there’s still no way. If anyone here can give me a detailed, step by step instruction in how, I would greatly appreciate it.
According to the owner's manual, they can come out without having to remove anything else:
Off course, they do not consider any hinderance, such as the license plate as in the pictures posted above.
Best regards,

that drawing shows removing the lens and the bulb, but I want to remove the entire assembly, which also includes the black housing in which the bulbs are inserted and to which the lenses attach.
