Limp mode?
My recently acquired 2007 XJ8 VDP is starting to develop an issue which has me concerned about what else the computer will come up with. I was just cruising slowly when the car just lost power and went into what I believe is called a bucking limp mode reduced to around 5-10 mph. I noticed that the S button on the center console lit up along with the skidding car symbol on the dash and the emergency brake kicked in. After blocking traffic and lots of horns telling me to get moving, I turned the engine off and restarted and I was back to normal. My wife had the same thing happen to her on a previous day. What is going on and how do I prevent it from reoccurring?
The result of the reading:
1. P2195 - Throttle actuator control system forced engine shutdown.
2. P2105 - Throttle /pedal position sensor switch A/B voltage correlation
3. P0116 - Engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit range / performance.
I have no idea what those terms mean. I guess I'll have to take it to a Jaguar dealership unless there are knowledgeable on this forum.

The throttle pedal in the Jag is electronic and has two tracks (A and B) with
contacts which 'wipe' the tracks and inevitably will wear out eventually.
The signal from these tracks must be the same otherwise the system
shuts down. If it was mine I would just remove the pedal from under the dash,
test it on the bench and replace it if faulty.
I suggest the you take it to a good auto electrician and not a Jaguar dealer
if you do not DIY.
