Default looking for inexpensive tire recommendations

Our 2004 xj8 needs new tires and I don't have a lot of money to throw at them. I don't need any kind of sports performance just good inexpensive tires from sears/walmart/costco etc. The size is 235/55 r17.

Also the front tires are wearing badly on the inner side. The mechanic I spoke to said this was normal as it a performance car and that is how they are set up. can anyone confirm this?

thanks

I recently installed Falken Azenis FK450 All Season. Very happy with them. To my surprise they have better traction than the summer ultra high performance Yokos V105s it had. Relatively inexpensive the Falkens.

My front tires are certainly not wearing badly on the inner side. I would look for a different mechanic.

This a very good 50,000 mile, Z speed rated tire. Excellent wet traction, soft ride, performance oriented.

Look for tyres on e bay and have a local fit them (say $10 per wheel)

Kumhos are good.

Also Toyos

If your front tyres are wearing on the inside edges, it indicates the trunnion bush on the front arm of the front lower wish-bone, (the so-called 'banana arm') is on the way out. When it is on the way out, it allows slight tow-out and this then wears out the inner edge of the tyres. It happened to me on my previous X350. Just measuring tracking statically may not show it up; its only when the car is rolling that the bush distorts enough.

Agree with Fraser. Mine was experiencing the inner wear until I inspected and pushed in new trunnion bushings - problem solved.

Tires: I put Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 on my car and have been very pleased with them after about 15,000 miles. I think roughly $95 per tire is what I paid.
