Lost Lug Nut Key
Had her in to get new shoes & received a call saying they couldn't find the key. Suggested getting the dealer to unlock. If I have to, I will but dread the thought. If the dealer orders a new one it will take a week.
I should have removed them and replaced with the 4 original nuts that were in the kit in the trunk.
Is anyone aware of how to get the lock nut off without the key & without going to the dealer?
Thanks

I don't know how these lug nuts lock but in the past, I have removed locking wheel nuts by hammering an undersized impact socket on and turning it off. If the Jag locking nuts spin on the lug it obviously wont work. I remember getting a flat on a boat trailer and realizing the seller (a few thousand miles away) had not provided the lug nut key. Truck, trailer with boat stopped just off an interstate ramp and cop cars front and back with flashing lights. What a nightmare!!
I took her to the premier alignment shop in our state and by luck of the draw, got the attention of their master mechanic. He drilled and hammered them off as I watched drop-jawed. Tires are installed and I replaced the lockers with regulars.
The dealer likely could have gotten them off with a master key... However, the place is a zoo & I'd rather lie down on I-5 than visit there.
Lessons learned:
Remove lockers and replace with regulars at purchase.
If I were living in an area where wheels are more likely to be stolen, I would order a second key for under my pillow & would check for the key before & after each shop visit.
While I love my 04 xjr & I hope to have her as long as possible, when the time comes, the Tesla S is my most likely purchase. Their shop here has established a AAA reputation and she reminds a lot of my Jag: beautiful and fast. The new Jags do nothing for me &, as I mentioned, the dealership is pathetic.
