Lug Nut (Wheel Nut in the UK) Thread
Evening all,
I acquired a set of 18'' Jaguar "Double Five" Wheels to replace the aftermarket ones on the XK8. The aftermarket lug nuts are indeed only for those particular wheels as they do not have the flat washer style back, rather a recessed bullet shape, so I will be ordering new lug nuts.
My question is, what is recommended? I've seen a few threads beginning of this year and last about Adamesh and Gorilla lug nuts, the two piece OE and Solids. I have personally seen the two piece ones come apart on another vehicle. Tagging @rothwell here as I know he's done some pretty extensive research on these and wanted to see what he thought. @rothwell , you're becoming our resident Wheel Guru!
I prefer a solid lug but at the end of the day, whatever keeps the wheel properly secured as it should be is fine by me. This is where I miss the days where you could go to the store and physically inspect the different options....

Scott I have a couple sets of OE lugs. You can have a set if you want pick out the best ones.
On my car now is a set of these from Adamesh. They are really solid and durable but not the prettiest when new and especially after 6 years of on/off. Kinda pricey too with shipping.
I have looked at a lot of options. Whenever I swap out my Apollo wheels for my refurbished set I plan to try this set of shiny plated ones. I have used 2-piece lugs in the past without issue. Finding the right size is important. The "king" set up this listing at my request with 1.25 washers that will nicely fill the hole in the Apollo wheel. You should check the Double Fives to be sure they can accept that large of a washer. If not there was a 1 inch washer available too.
I preferred the dome top to the button head style. These are only $30 with free shipping.

Some follow up about the Adamesh lugs and the ones I bought to replace them.
After about 60K miles and many wheel removals this is how the Adamesh ones held up. Still functional but not much to look at.
This is how the new ones will look when installed.
Worth noting that the Adamesh are 7/8" socket. New ones will be 13/16".

Hey Rothwell, I actually need one lugnut, I have been missing one for a while and have one that simply does not match. I would be happy to Venmo you for the postage. If the other Scott needs all of them, that is totally cool though.
