Default Lower Control Arms Improvement

I bought two lower control arms from Just Jags in Great Britain and noticed the castings were different than what's currently on my car. My question to them was "Are these OEM or aftermarket". While they are made by the same German manufacturer they are not quite OEM as they are improved OEM. Personally, I was happy to hear this as who wants to replace a badly designed product with more of the same. I appreciate their below response and will be happy to do business with them in the future. Here is Myton Automotive (Just Jags) response.

Dear Mr Dan Veenstra,

Thank you for your email.

Hi Dan.

The numbers on the wishbones are what we call the 'casting' number. This is simply the number of the batch that would have gone through the foundry when they were being manufactured.

The actual Jaguar part number started off as C2C15324 @ £228.28 and was then superceeded as follows> C2C20618 > C2C26261 > C2C26835 > C2C36013 > C2C36868 > C2C39683 (BTW C2C36868 was @ £415.05).

The reason for the supersessions can be varied but are often to do with quality or price. In the case of these wishbones it was the bushes that have been upgraded and made more 'rigid' over the past few years.

The wishbones supplied to you are the latest part number version. (If you were to look at bushes on your original ones you'll note they will be sightly different to the bushes on the ones we have supplied).

Please be assured the wishbones are manufactured to the same quality and standard (in the same factory in Germany) and are TUV approved the only difference is they do not carry the Jaguar logo on them.As they are the latest version they cannot be referred to as OEM, (but will be after four years) so presently we refer to them as aftermarket.

I hope this explains things for you.

Hope this answers your question. If you have any other queries - please let me know.

Those arms look good to me and are made by the original supplier to Jaguar. And the right price too !

Default Myton Automotives Invoice

DonB & Fraser,

Here is a copy of the invoice from Myton Automotive in Great Britain. As you can see it's for 321.46 British Sterling. I just looked at my Bank of America amount charged in US dollars and it is $537.94. About $90 of that is shipping but even with the shipping cost, in my mind, it's reasonable in that they are cast in the original plant in Germany rather than some obscure place in China. Also, it could be that the bushing problem has been taken care of. By choice, I prefer to believe I'm not going to have future problems with them rather than thinking about doom & gloom up the line.

Thanks for displaying the invoice. Its rather sad that the price is slightly cheaper for customers in the USA with shipping, than UK residents that have to pay VAT at 20%! No point in buying them on vacation and explaining to US Customs what they are; never mind the weight issue.
