Navigation DVD Player Bypass?
I installed a 9.7 inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and CarPlay to solve my navigation issue. The unit came with front camera and reversing camera. The whole system has to be installed by a professional shop. Jaguar X358 2009 XJ6
OK, I have my screen fixed as I speak and I did not have to trace down the broken link between the cd player or nav system. My mechanic told me it was the screen. So I purchased a used one on ebay that was the complete unit. Radio, CD player, and upper controls from a semi reputable seller that had a 30 days return policy. I thought if it doesn't work, just send it back. I replaced my screen with the newly purchased one and it works better that the original. Just plug and play. Replacement was easy and the ebay used screen cost me under 200 with shipping. I don't know how long it will last but if it goes out, just replace it again.
Thanks JDog,
The intermittent and flickering nature of my screen leads me to concur with Meirion1's view that this is screen failure, not boot box failure?
My screen was delaminating anyway?
I shall probably attempt to source a used screen here in Dubai; the cost of shipping from (say) the U.S is prohibitive?

Thank you 2014268,I have fitted a Seicane 10.26 Smart Screen DVR to my car; cost $100. I didn’t fancy a rearview mirror version, too far away from me to operate and (in my opinion) taking my eyes away from the road?
My thanks go to Forum Member MEC for his perseverance in guiding me on the wiring of its reversing camera via a relay to my ground initiated reversing light!
I would very much have preferred either Ben Wilcox’s Jagdroid or one of these Chinese 9 inch Tesla style screen replacements. I have the premium Alpine system, but my screen is delaminated and I have the cassette player with the CD changer in the boot, so shipping to UK etc. for Jagdroid...Neh…!
The Tesla style screen coming in at around $1000 plus is too rich for me. I have owned a beautiful left-hand drive, long-wheelbase V8 Jaguar here in Dubai for six years, but I am 68 years old (and still married since 1984 to the same girl, who describes cars only by their colour) and we shall be leaving our Jag here in the next few years to return to the right-hand drive Dis-United Kingdom? They have no real concept of classic cars here in Dubai; if your car is older than 3 years, it is because you cannot afford a new one! Not going to make the cost of the new screen back on a car with currently 186,000 kilometers on the clock?
Anyway, I wanted Android Auto and a reversing camera on the cheap, so I 3D printed a bracket allowing me to mount my screen under my dash (so that I can see both front corners of my car clearly above it). I placed it closer to the driver so that it was easily accessible and my iconic Jaguar clock was not covered by it.
My long-wheelbase rear entertainment center allows me to connect a plugged-in Bluetooth adaptor, with the wiring hidden within the main loom to play my music straight from my ‘phone (which can stay in my pocket).
I realise that what I have done is pretty irreversible, but I guess if anyone here in Dubai (probably a Brit) wants to buy my car, they are likely to prefer it with Android Auto/Apple Car Play and a reversing camera?
I know the purists will not like this (and who could blame them)? If I was already in the UK, and if I had a Radiance Red (or British Racing Green) XJR which I intended to keep to see me into my grave, I would do ANY of the alternatives I describe above!

However, let me say this at outset; apart from the financial aspects and the ongoing erratic behaviour of my OEM screen, the only reason I have gone this route is because I already have an AUX - IN via my Rear Entertainment Centre (I think it is called Multimedia Control Panel); in this way I can play music from my 'phone in my pocket through the car audio system including steering wheel controls?
Without that AUX IN, you cannot Bluetooth your music into your car system and must rely on the crappy, tinny speakers behind the Seicane Screen?
So, for me, if no Multimedia Control Panel, no Seicane!
The 3D-printed bracket is epoxied to the underside ‘lip’ of my dash-top. It is further stabilised against the wooden dash immediately beneath, but not glued to it; in this way, I hope it can be removed less visibly if required in the future!
In the pics you will see that I have 'plumbed' wires from that rear AUX IN through the boot bulkhead and then into the main loom (alongside the kick-plates) and up to the Bluetooth adapter to the right of my main screen (all tucked away behind the glove box and centre console panels etc.). I have magnet-attached the Bluetooth adapter to my old ‘phone holder there so that it is accessible and I can permanently power it from the glove box socket – Which also powers the screen.
The cable for the reversing camera is similarly routed through the main loom, up through the flexible rubber protector on the right side of the boot-lid to the camera mounted next to the boot release button. The camera is reverse-gear actuated via a relay connected to the reversing lamp. See (courtesy Forum Member MEC): Backup camera-Rear/Front view - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

I looked into your type of problem briefly and found a supplier of tubes in the USA but
have no link sorry.
BBA reman in Sittingbourne have gone bust unfortunately but there is a new company
in Rochester called Remanx.
I suggest that you could give them a ring and ask for advice.
Cheers

Sourcing a used unit off of ebay is an inexpensive way.
Guess that you may have to add some cash for shipping

Dear Forum,
Update on my OEM screen in case it helps someone!
I was puzzled as to why my screen would not activate in the morning, but came on fine in the evening? Turns out I had a parasitic draw which I have now solved.
I suspected that an overnight draw was pulling my battery down and the subsequent morning recharge allowed it to function correctly in the evening? Anyway, whether or not I have this right or wrong, the end result is my screen now comes on as it should do!!
So it would appear that the telematics system is very voltage sensitive?
