Default Navigation DVD update?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the most updated navigation cd that is out for the x350 system? I only can find the 2012 cd, is that the last one available for our cars?

Thanks,

Mike

Where did you find the 2012 disc? I have the 2008 disc and would like an upgrade.

Jaguar Navigation DVD - NAVDVDMAPS.COM

I emailed to ask if there will be another upgrade beyond 2011-2012, but have not received a reply.

My 2006 SV8 had a 2008-2009 DVD in it when I bought it. Interesting to read that a burned copy will work also - might have to try that to keep the original as a backup.

Edit: read about using a copy here:

Can anyone explain how using a burned DVD copy could "burn out the laser reader"? Just curious.

That's not true. Not saying you can't get a bad disc, but that's not true tho...

There has been a few people who have had trouble with copy discs it's been said that the laser has to work harder to read the disc and runs hotter , from personal experience when I run a copy disc that I got off eBay and after a hour the screen locked lucky I had the old one in the car put that back in then had to remove the battery terminal and do a hard reset . Contacted the seller they returned my money and let me keep the disc never used it again bought a secondhand original from eBay no problems since wish they would do a up to date one nice to know they don't burn out the laser

Like I say, there can be bad copies; since I've had my car, the disc I've had is from the guy I found from this forum 'T.C Martin' that was doing them for $50. Almost a yr & a half with no issues. It's no different than someone with a 'copied' movie, some may work perfect for most, & then there will be someone that says "man that crap is CRAP".

Actually, I sent an IMAGE of my DVD copy to someone on the forum back some months ago, & as far as I know, they've not had any issues. That'd be a copy of the copy going through the cloud, downloaded & then burnt.

I have heard that if burnt using a MAC it works great, but burnt using a PC and any of the usual Iso burners they fail.

Go figure..

It's not that burned dvd's are bad, it's just that the system takes only 1 type of dvd-rewriteable media (DVD-RW and not DVD+RW)

In any case, I have no desire to update or even use mine as the whole Jaguar sat-nav experience is plagued by slowness and frequent freeze-ups. My smartphone/Google Maps fits perfectly inside the cigarette lighter cubbyhole and works great!

Cheers,
Wolfy

Default 1x43-10e898-bk

Jaguar Part # 1X43-10E898-BK

The above is for a 2011-2012 USA and Canada NAV DVD

Its what I use in my 2005 XJR . The Jaguar NAV works just fine for me and I do not find it slow at all. Of course its not up to date but thats not a problem for me on Cape Cod where I use it the most or in Maine. I do not use it in MD as I do not need to.

If you do a search on Yahoo you will find some vendors who have it.

Thanks, Wolfy. Thats good to know if I decide to burn a backup copy.

Ours works pretty well once I figured out the search area choices which divide our usual driving area in two. It seems to work as fast as our "Naggy Maggie" Magellian Roadmate; I just wish she (it?) had an english accent to go with the car. I am guessing the European ones might sound a bit more British.
