Default New battery help

2003 x350 petrol.
I need to fit a new battery, will I need to put a code in for the radio and if so what is the precedure for this. Also do I have to reset anything when it's done. Thought I'd do a hard reset whilst I'm at it so would like to know the correct procedure for this too.
Many thanks

You will need the code for the radio. When you switch on it will ask you for the code, simply press in the 4 digit code and all is well. Any memory functions you have will also need to be reset.
Other than that, nothing to it.

You may loose your milage and mpg readings for Trip A and Trip B, so note them down beforehand if they are important to you. However, they do take a minute or two to go and as it happens I didn't loose mine when I changed my battery, but I can't remember now whether the radio needed the code or not.

When I switched batteries on my 05, I didn't need to reset the radio code. I did loose all the radio station memories and tripmeter readings. If you do loose the radio, do you have the code in your owners manual? If not, I believe a dealer must get it for you. On my Mercedes they needed the serial number on the radio itself to get it.

U.S. vehicles don't require a code. European vehicles do.
