Why not rebuild your old one?

When I replaced mine a few years ago NO ONE within 50 miles would touch my original.

I ended up after several tries with an aftermarket one that worked. Several did not quite have the required voltage output.

Brushes are often all that's needed.
Bearings will quiet things down if noise is an issue.
Rebuild kits, including the bearings & diode plate, are on ebay.
Now you have a rebuilt alternator

Hve you rebuilt one?

When I took mine apart it was difficult to do without damaging components so much so I gave up and I am not without a bit of experience with electrical things.

The output voltage is set by the regulator. All put out way too much unregulated. A rebuilder should be able to fit a higher voltage regulator if desired.
There are several rebuilders in my area. One large one and several small shops with in 10 miles. That must be how many repair shops source them. Higher volume business than I thought.

Soldering the plate with all the diodes, is the hardest part.
You will need a good soldering iron.

Does it have to be Denso?
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/jaguar-alternator-al9433x

Or
https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/BS-C2C19630
have a recoed unit maybe autohauz can recondition your unit have you looked at Rockauto ?

I used fcp Euro in the early 2000'S for my 93 sovereign they shipped to Australia and great prices couple of the reviews also seemed to make it sound a Bosch unit could replace a Denso unit

might pay to do some research or call

I remember on my wife's Jeep the alternator was non repairable and $1400 did my research and used a Bosch unit instead of the original Valeo unit it's still working

Just a thought

I replaced my original Denso with a reman Bosch, it lasted just over the 2yr warranty and crapped out, I had another Bosch reman installed and it was making the lights pulse, mechanic replaced it and another Bosch before finally getting one that works. The Bosch reliability is not good, they do have 2yr roadside coverage on them.

Default NEW Denso alternator

Well, that was interesting.
I started out looking for a source for a NEW Denso alternator for a customer's 2006 XJ8. What followed was mostly a (relevant) debate about the merits of rebuilding the original unit.
I knew I could get a new one from a dealer but their price of $1100. seemed a bit steep. I was sure I could find one for less. Key word here is "find". That's what led me here.
I was also pretty sure I didn't want to do it over (and over...) until I got a "good one" as some of you described your experiences with rebuilding or aftermarket rebuilts.
Customer was OK with new from dealer, and only doing it once, so that's what we did.
As it turned out, even from dealer the new one was slightly different from the original. The back was clocked 90 degrees off but harness reached the terminals OK.
Thanks for the replies, advice, interest, etc.

Happy Holidays to all!

Be well, be safe................

That looks like a Ford part number or engineering number, check Lincoln LS 4.0L similar year to see if it matches. car-part.com

One of the big suppliers of alternator rebuild parts used to have their catalog online. Have done bearings and brushes its pretty easy, just not on a Jag alternator (couple of Fords though)
