oil pan gasket confusion
Hello all, i'm fixing an oil leak from the pan gasket. I dropped the pan today and went to install the rubber gasket ( Mahle OS32287 ). Problem is, when i inserted the gasket along the bottom of housing there is about a 1" excess of gasket. I removed and tried again, but it appears too long. I searched online and this board and folks have used this same gasket part number with success. I'm confused... is there something i'm forgetting or did they change pans during a model year? I have a 2005 XJR.
here is the one i purchased:

i laid out both gaskets and the Mahle is definitely longer..very odd.
i'm searching online and i find differences...when i go to Cary Jaguar's site they have a different gasket number, but almost all other sites show the gasket i used. I'm guessing they used a different pan on some models. Maybe you and I ended up with non supercharger engine oil pans. Very odd and i'm gonna order a few like you did and figure it out in the driveway. Probably cheaper then the dealership.
