A few days ago, I noticed the padding from the bonnet hanging down on the drivers side of my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L. Actually, I'm not sure what kind of adhesive I could use to secure that padding. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks.
when mine did that, I just removed the whole thing. I looked for a replacement, but those are a bit hard to find. I hope it won't ruin the finish on the hood, but it had lost all its rigidity, and reattaching it seemed unlikely.
I still have it in my hope chest in case someone knows how to restore it.
There are various threads on cut-to-fit replacements. It's what I did, in fact if you search under my user name I think I wrote about what I used. The stock liner begins to break down over time.
Right above where it is hanging, it is attached/ How is it attached? When I loo up the parts for the car, it show clips for it. Here is a picture. It shows some round and rectangle clips. Hope this helps. Be kind and think of others

I glued the edges of mine down with Lexel right after I bought the car and haven't had any problems since.
If you haven't used Lexel before, it is applied with a caulking gun and works great for demanding glue jobs.
I think what I might do is to clean the affected area, use a layer of duct tape to hold the end of the insulation down, and then apply some Testors Flat Black spray paint over the duct tape. Actually, it might just work.
3M or other spray trim adhesive to glue back into place Don' be afraid to remove the large headed plastic retainers as necessary get back into position. Retainers are readily available on line or at part stores. Put additionals where areas are soft. Put extras only in double panel areas, Be very careful drilling for extras. Be attentive around the engine air intake at core support, if it is sagged it will block air flow and cause poor performance and mileage. Or you could remove it if beyond repair.. There are a number of adhesive backed sound deadners available that can be cut and fitted on the bare hood areas to keep heat from damaging paint and give a finished look.
Update: Well, the duct tape idea didn't pan out last Wednesday. As per one member's suggestion, I did order a can of 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Spray Adhesive.. When I do get a chance of trying the spray adhesive out, I'll post another update.
Update: Well, I applied some 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Spray Adhesive on the hood insulation of my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L today, and I would describe the results as mixed. Actually, this appeared to be a VERY temporary fix as I really didn't have a lot of faith in that spray adhesive to securely bond the insulation back onto the underside of the bonnet. If the hood insulation should begin to separate again, I might simply try applying some clear silicone as I believe that would provide better adhesion.
Update: I decided to complement the hood insulation repair today by injecting some clear silicone 388 in a few spots so as to beef up the repair. Well, I think that should hold up for the time being.
