Default Random beeps from parking sensors

My 2004 4.2 SE has been emitting what I think are random beeps from the parking sensors. It only happens when I am stationary and waiting at traffic lights. It happens even when there are no other cars around so it doesn't appear to be sensing other objects.

I read in the owners manual that the front sensors can pick up interference if they receive a signal of the same frequency. Has anyone else experienced this?

There is a TSB relating to something similar B413-01 but my VIN isn't in the range. That TSB mentions service action S715 too. Does anyone have a copy of that or know what it is about?

TIA

Richard

Default Parking Sensor Faults

Hi,
Yes, I get this too. I took it to the dealer service centre and it was a faulty sensor, which had to be swapped out. This involved removing the rear bumper and also painting the sensor to match my car so the labour cost was significant (about 200 EUR overall).

I still get it, so I think more than one sensor has gone, but annoyingly the dealer did not detect this, so I have to take it back a second time.

The surface of the sensors have some ridging, which looks like under coat corrosion, so maybe this is a common issue?

Mine had one replaced under warranty the other week.
On mine the light on the overhead console P button would come on and when put into reverse there would be a 3 second beep (one of the indications of a fault).
If you put your handbrake on and put your car into reverse (best have someone with their foot on the footbrake who you trust!) listen with your ear right up against all the sensors (front and back). You should hear a faint clicking sound from all of the ones that are working (the sonar at work in each sensor). The one(s) that arent clicking is/are faulty and need to be replaced.

Thanks for the replies. The system passes self test and all sensors click so it seems to check out OK, I just get the annoying random beeps. It also only seems to happen as the car warms up so it is temperature related.

I did see on another thread that you could check the resistance of the sensors so I might give that a go.

I very occasionally get the same thing. I am not sure but I think it may be from certain Infinity models.
