In germany, fog lights must be activated when sight is less then 50m. If sight is only 50m, you are only allowed to drive 50 km/h.
This "deadly" combination is used by cops. If you had your fog lights on at "normal speed", you either are guilty of speeding or illegal fog lights engagement.
This helps a lot arguing with people, that claim their fog lights are ok.

Hi Mark
I have had to repair the mountings of my LED fog lights, as at the last inspection, one had a slightly upward angle of beam. I understand that fog lights must not light above a 5 degree downward from horizontal. I measured mine against a board at a distance from the car. The original mountings were by self-tapping screws into plastic, which were very weak. I replaced them by 4mm riv-nuts (nutserts) and stainless steel screws. This, of course is on an X358, which is of a different design to the X350.

Hi Pete,

Nice job on that repair!

Just checked.....LTSA rules stipulate front fogs are to be dipped no less than 3 degrees for the main portion of the beam.
They always look like they are pointing a bit up to oncoming traffic.....I guess that is the result of a bit of light spill-over from the lens efficiency.

JaguarNZL,

I didn't have much luck getting my fog switch assembly to pop out. Too many clips to simultaneously activate with my fingers struggling to get the one next to the ignition switch.
Had several goes at it on Sunday...just could seem to dislodge.

The encumbant Jaguar switch turns on the front fogs appropriately and no response at all to the rear fog sw. Put in my test box now and the 820 ohms turns on my front fogs (this is incorrect as I have a RHD car the front fogs should respond to the 470 ohm resistor) and the other switch at 470ohm no response what so ever. So I suspect its either a fault in the cluster or a programming issue (or both). I can't for the life of me think why they would have opposite resistors or LHD and RHD other than it was some sort of stuff up making the switch cluster. I did ring Jaguar in Hamilton (NZL) but they weren't particularly helpful. The switch circuit BTW gives about 11 volts with no load and one side appears to be grounded (continuity to ground). I might ring the Auckland fellas and see if they will talk to me. Are there some countries where fog lights are illegal?
Did you manage to repair the rear fog lights?

I have a similar problem, the lights don't turn on.
My car is a 2005 XJ R X350,
I replaced the light switch and it didn't help, the fuses are ok, the 12+ power supply is in the bulbs, the cable from REM to the bulbs is also ok.

I suspect this is due to a lock in the region/world settings.
I looked for these options in SDD but I don't see any options regarding rear fog lights.

Hi zylkarek,
If you have an XJR, they were not usually fitted with front fog lights (at least in the brochures). If there are no front fogs, then the rear fogs will be automatically inhibited. The front fog lights must be on to enable the rear fog lights.

Hi, I have front fog lights and they work.
They don't work backwards.

On my US-market 2007 XJ8, the rear fogs work as long as the headlights are on, regardless of the state of the front foglights, or the state of the headlight high- or low-beam setting. Front foglights require low-beam headlights to operate, but rears simply need the headlights on.

@zylkarek had a thread asking for SDD settings about the rears, as he said they don't work, yet are required in his country. Apparently he has a US car that has been imported. I replied to that thread about the rears having their own switch and included a picture of the switch panel, because it sounded like he thought front and rear operated together, and they do not. He has stated in THIS thread that he understands the two different switches, so I'm at a loss, especially comparing it to my own car, which is a LHD US-market car.

My 04 XJR had fog lights front and rear. Worked independently of each other if headlights were on low beam. Loved the rears for tailgaters!

I understand that your xjr version is for the US market and the rear fog lights work.
So it's not a problem of the lights being turned off in the car options.
Today I replaced the fuse box... it also did not solve the problem.
My x350 xjr is 2005/model 2006

Thanks
