Sagging?
Hi all, does this vdp looks ow in the front at all-hard pic to see but it might seem slightly low and I would think they just ran it to move it for the photo. Jag dealer has it 4 sale, no major repairs but lots of maintenance, 1 owner-kind of vague description by the salesman and I'm long distance.
And on top of this, I emailed the dealer to recap our phone call re condition, a bunch of questions, tires, air sox etc. He calls back, and this is the largest Jag dealer in the US, and sez, 'If you want me to guarantee an 05 Jag that ll these parts are perfect or new, I cannot. We did the major inspection, brakes, blah blah.' In a Long Island arrogant tone no less(I know I are form there 2). Like , 'trust me kid, we know what were doing and the price is right.' Sounds like a good one to avoid even though it could be a nice 1 owner car.
Again most factory dealers auction these off it they're dogs so maybe it is a good one. Oh, the drama of Jag shopping.

I'd avoid that dealer like the plague....I'm sorry, when I buy a luxury car from a luxury dealer...even if it's used, I expect to be treated well.
As for the ride height...looks roughly OK to me...maybe a tad high in the rear, but the fronts are easily clearing the fenders and appear at the right height and the rears are what it uses to level so they may have just moved it from an inclined spot for that pic.

The car's stance looks OK, just like mine, in fact.
These cars deliberately have a "forward" look, but you can always tell if its OK or not by looking at the line of the sill below the doors which should be parallel to the road surface, which it is on your pic.
I'm not sure I'd be happy buying a car from so far away, but maybe this is normal in the US.

Jeffn, you did not mention how many miles are on the car, but, you claimed it has had a lot of maintenance. I can tell you this: My wife drives an 04 XJ8 with 52K on it. We have never had to do any maintenance other than oil changes & the recommendations due at 50,000 miles; although, I did notice rusty water on the garage floor this morning thus I suspect a water pump may soon be in order. Also, I would be very careful purchasing vehicles titled in NY; a lot of cars on the market have been underwater from last year's hurricane. Lastly, I reside in SC and recently purchased a 2008 XJ with 17,400 miles for $26,000. I bought without seeing it in person from Treasure Coast Jaguar in Fort Pierce, FL. Everything went well & the vehicle turned out to be exactly as described and pictured; I highly recommend the dealership.

Dober, I remember that car-we live about 10 miles away and they are a nice clean dealership, no pressure, just salesmanship. and welcoming. Is it gold?
This white one had a couple sensors replaced, brakes, and regular maintenace at 69k currently. 1 owner on L.I. but on the north shore so no flooding ostensibly. I would think a big dealer like them would avoid 'F" titled cars-I think if it was a dog, they'd auction it and the owner bought a new jag from them. Shame of it is that it's a NY car so hard roads and winter salt especially when I'm in FL with clean FL cars like yours.
Oddly, I'm only thinking of this one since I know this dealership a bit as I'm from L.I.

Jeffn: Yes, the XJ that I purchased is the gold color; what a coincidence you actually live so close to the dealer & saw in person what is now my 2008 XJ. As for the white one you are considering, it is likely fine coming from a dealership as you mentioned. However, considering you are in Florida with ample Jaguars to choose from; I suggest you be patient & wait for one to come about. As you likely know, a lot of folks in your area lease them short term thus there's always nice ones turning up. If you haven't already, go to AutoTrader.com, Cars.com, and e-Bay; you can definitely set up two of the three sites to e-mail you when an XJ with your criteria comes available. As you also likely know, these cars can be obtained reasonably cheap; I negotiated the Treasure Coast dealer down from $32K to $26K on the O8 Jag with 17,400 in mileage. On the flip side, it is also why I will not sell my wife's XJ with 52K on it since it will only sell for $14K or less.
I love Barry's (Doberman-fan() attitude on selling, as it is my own. You only crystallise a loss, (depreciation), when you actually sell the car, so why sell it !! At the present time, I have a 2003 car on 71k miles and its running well; (OK, it is petrol, so a bit thirsty unlike the diesel cars). I cannot think of a car I really want to have instead, so I'm keeping mine.
From my experience, the only reason to "get rid" is if a car, (or a motorbike for that matter), turns into a Black Hole for money for repairs.
Of course I should have mentioned boredom, as that can be a powerful thing to force change !!
