Scary Steering Problem - please help!
Guys, bit of a panic here. Please help! 2004 XJR. Was driving normally then went to reverse into driveway and noticed the steering is weird. It was like the PAS wasn't working, was really heavy. But it's actually more than that. When trying to turn there is resistance, but when I stop turning then turn again, it works OK. Fluid levels fine. No codes or lamps on dash.
Scared to drive it like this. Anybody have any ideas as to what could be wrong?
Merry Christmas :/

No need to be scared, the X350 has a mechanical steering system that will not fail as long as it is not mechanically massively damaged. Only the electro-hydraulic assistance can fail, resulting in sluggishness. However, the vehicle remains steerable.
If the sluggishness only occurs during parking maneuvers, it is recommended to first change the accessory drive belt and flush the hydraulic fluid. If the problem persists, there are specific electrical tests for the steering transducer. It is then recommended to have the vehicle OBD scanned.
