Default Seat Heaters Not Working

So it got cold in Fort Lauderdale, FL last week. That's anything below 65 degrees for us. I decided to turn on the heater for the driver's seat. The steering wheel got blazing hot, but on the seat, nothing.

So I sat in the passenger seat and turned on the seat heater. Again, nothing.

I didn't have time to try the rear seats.

Can anyone think of a reason why both front seat heaters wouldn't work while the steering wheel heater would even though they are interconnected?

Is there a separate fuse for the seat heaters versus the steering wheel?

It does take a while, at least on my car, for the seats to heat up. Were you patient enough?

I would also try the rear seats. This will give us a more complete picture.

I drove 40 minutes to the airport with the switch on 3 and nothing.

I'll try the rear seats when I get back on Monday.

Do the electric seat adjustment motors still work ? There is a listing of fuses in the Driver Handbook; have you looked in that ? There may be a relay as well, as the fairly high current needed to heat seats up would normally be switched with a relay. I think these are also in the same pages as the fuse lists.

Yeah, the seat adjustments work just fine. I'll do a further investigation when I get home on tomorrow.

So I got home and sat in the back seat. The seat heaters on both sides work just fine.

I'll check the fuses for the front seats tomorrow.

Are your tail light clusters working properly. My drivers side seat heater failed last year, and it turned out to be an internal relay in the rear fusebox that also took out power to the right tail light cluster.

The solution for me was to replace the rear fusebox.

I checked the fuses and they are all good. But I have noticed that now my side-marker lamps are all out also.

I think i'll just drop the car off at the Jag specialists one day. Right now, neither is a great priority. I live in South Florida, so seat heaters are not really a necessity.

If it is the PCB relays in the fusebox, then check the tail and reversing lights while hitting the brakes. If the relay has failed they will not be getting 12V properly, and may not be illuminating correctly.

In my case, the Jag dealership wanted ~$900 for the fusebox, so I bought one used, and replaced it myself. A reasonably simple task, it is located next to the spare tire The relay in question is built-in to the box so can't be replaced separately.

Thanks. I'm honestly thinking that I may trade this car in and go back to Infiniti. Last night I started the car and it immediately shut down. I tried this 3 times and same thing. Today, I go out and start the car and it starts and continues to run. I love this car, but after paying over $4500 in repairs 10 months i'm becoming frustrated.

I've got the same issue with my seats not warming up, just the front seats as well, steering wheel gets nice and hot. No other issues, absolutely all lights and seat movement work perfectly.
