Default Side Indicator Bulb Socket

The auto body shop is in the process of reassembling my car. Got an email from them this morning stating that the sockets that hold the side indicator bulbs had corroded. Evidently, they contacted Jaguar and this is only sold as part of the whole wiring harness and is very expensive.

Here's what their email said:

"I am sending you a few pictures of a couple light sockets that are needed for your car. They are the same part but one is for the front marker light and the other is for the rear marker light. I have checked with Jaguar direct and they are ridiculously expensive and only come with a wiring harness and cannot be purchased separately. If you wanted to do some digging and looking to see if you could come up with something and get back to me I would really appreciate it."

I've searched the forums, and see that some others have had a similar problem, but couldn't find an exact solution (other than someone who got some at a salvage yard).

Any help or suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

If you buy a new side marker lamp the socket you need comes with it.Would have thought the dealer would have told the bodyshop that.Check the dealer or ebay-prices are reasonable $35-50 range for the lamps.

Well, I spent an hour or two digging online and it looks as though there is a VW part that is the same (or at least very similar). The part number is 1H0949111

Bulb socket. SOCKET FOR BULB. Side marker light turn signal front side ; for Volkswagen (VW). #1H0949111

I have ordered two from my local VW dealer and they should be in on Saturday. I'll let you know if they work.

Hi MrWhite,

Those sockets are exact matches for the ones that come with the Jaguar lamps, so all should be well. More info at the link below, but for some reason my photos aren't working:

Cheers,

Just to follow up. I can confirm that the VW part that I mentioned above fits perfectly.

I looked at replacing my rotted sockets with the vw sockets too. But my lens's were getting brittle, and the whole assy on line was not much more than the vw socket only.

The Jag/Valco side marker ***'y is incomplete, no harness side plug is included. I got mine from a ser. 3 Jetta, used, no lens, just the A&B plugins, but the wire retainer stuck out, so for now i just snap fitted the A&B and all markers are now lit. Quite a PITA!
