side marker lights don't light up!
What is the best way to remove the marker lenses? I tried prying out the top of the right front marker light lens with the flat screwdriver blade of my Swiss army knife which is 1/4" wide and very thin at the tip, but the lens is inset pretty deeply so the blade was pressing more down than out and it looked like the flat blade formed a crescent shaped crack in the top of the lens and it didn’t really move. I was afraid to pry any harder for fear of breaking the lens. Any suggestions on what to use to pry these out without cracking or breaking the plastic lens?
OK, Thanks guys,
I tried it again. I had just trimmed my fingernails so I tried a 3 " wide putty knife. The right front still doesn't want to give at all but I was able to pry the right rear out a little with the putty knife and another pry behind it but I still cracked the top of the lens when I tried to get it farther out. It appears the rear spring clip would come out at the back, but the front clip must be bent up inside the bumper cover and holding it in. Looks like I'll have to pull the wheels and fender liners and come at these from the back to replace the lamps. Darn!
Now that I've voilated my cardinal rule of DIY which is "First, do no harm" I just hope I can glue the little crescent of plastic back on this rear lens. So far it's not been my best day.
OK, the lens is glued - not perfect but passable. A little superglue, some wet-or-dry, and some swirl remover and it is probably not noticable except to the dummy who did it.
I'll try not to do this again.
I'll try not to do this again.
And just as a matter of interest for anyone in the UK that have side markers that don't work, it seems that on UK spec cars the side markers are in fact just reflectors and don't have any lamp holders fitted at all!

I have the same problem of corroded contacts on a rear side marker light on my '08 XJ8. It appears that Mercedes Benz uses the same socket, connectors and seals. The MB part number is 0005400966. I ordered one from ECStuning.com for $20.15 including shipping. The ECS part number is 1604502. Have not received it yet. Will let you know if it fits.
Hi guys
I am having a hard time trying to replace the little light bulb (2825,194)
in the high beam headlight, it does not want to come out. it's the little one on
top of the H7 light bulb. It does not come out it is like stock in there for some
reason, both of them. These little light bulbs (2825,194) are used also for the
side marker lights.
Any Ideas??
thank you in advanced.

Mine did not appear to move at all the first time I tried to remove it, so I wedged a small plastic spoon at the back of the light (toward the rear bumper) while pushing forward with my thumb and the back popped out enough so that I could remove the entire lens. The lens only moves a small fraction of an inch.

so as we all know ford owned the jaguar brand for time so you can use the socket from 2002 ford f250 merckery suv and few other ones. I juat went to junk yard and obtanded the conector and socket and spliced then on to the car mine had lived in Ohio And had crodded to nothing so i replaced and now i can juat get a housing for the bulb if needed works great i will update post latertoday with some part numbers for anyone that needs then hope this helps.
Jacob, Thanks for your post. In the meantime I was able to make the repair by removing the metal connector (which contacts the base of the bulb) from the Mercedes Benz plastic socket housing and put it in the Jaguar plastic housing. BTW can you provide the part number for the Ford socket in case I ever need another and in case anyone else has the same problem. Thanks again.

On my 2008 XJ8 I had to pry them out with a plastic spoon. I slipped the edge of the bowl of the spoon between the front of the lens and the body and gently pried out. An edge popped out and then I could remove the lens by hand.
