Default Loose outside mirror

Hi everyone. Today, I discovered the my driver's side mirror housing is a bit loose where it is attached to the front door. It may have come loose due to too many car washes over the years...? But as you can see, the gap is about 5 mm or maybe more. I tried to push it back in after pulling back to rubber just a bit with a screwdriver to see if it would re-seat itself, but no, it's permanently loose. (And the rubber no longer looks smooth, thanks to my trying to pull it back slightly in order to get the mirror housing in again.) My local Jag dealer has a body shop, and maybe that's the way to go, but I'm wondering if perhaps a few drops of Crazy Glue inside the gap while pressing in might solve the problem. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It's not the broken seal that bothers me so much, but rather the fact that the housing for the mirror is pulling away. See the top arrow.

The seal doesn't fill the gap, as shown. Maybe someone else has experience with DIY repair.

I suspect that you may need to remove the door card and a plastic cover on the inside

of the door then tighten the nuts or bolts that are holding the mirror in position.

+1 on removing the door card,,, as meirion1 suggested.
While your there you might want to replace the rubber seal if its available.
