Slo-o-o-w unlock
About six months ago I started having problems with both my key fobs. The range on the unlock button dropped from about 50 feet to 30, then 20, then 10. The lock and trunk release still work fine from 50 feet. Both of key fobs are doing this. I changed the batteries with no result.
Recently the car sat with the battery unhooked for about a month while I replaced the hoses under the supercharger. Now you have to be standing right next to the car and it still takes 10-15 seconds of holding the button down before anything happens. Sometimes it won't unlock at all. The lock and trunk release buttons continue to work normally. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes
In my case, when I took the fob apart you could see that the contact part under each of the two most frequently used buttons had separated from the circuit board and moved enough that there was no longer completely positive contact. A tiny bit of super glue fixed the issue for now. Not sure how long the fix will last.

I'll pull the fob apart and check, but I really don;t think that's the problem because it started at the same time with both fobs. Mine gets used every day, but my wife's hung on the keyboard from when I checked it for the drop in range last summer until I got it down tonight to check the slow unlock. They both do exactly the same thing.

You might find this helpful:

If you scroll down there is a photo of the circuit board and you can see the contact parts I'm referring to.

That's good info, but I really don't think it's the key. That would require two separate fobs, one in daily use and the other hanging on the keyboard for months at a time, to have the range decrease identically and simultaneously, and then the unlock time to increase identically and simultaneously. The odd on that seem slim to none.
