Default Trunk release

Can any one tell me if it is possible to bypass or use a jumper to release the trunk lid? There is two wires going to the trunk release switch, 1-purple/green and the other is black/brown. There is no power to either. It seam like there should be power to one of them right, all fuses are good, so it's not a burnt fuse.
Thanks
Dano

It's a long time since I had an XJ40 but I think there's a relay in the release circuit. If my memory is correct then this could be a possible cause of failure.

Hi Dano, I'd check the switch. The power would be there and not at the truck latch until the switch is pushed. Yes, you should be able to jumper it though. Unplug both wires and build your own temporary circuit. A Haynes manual will tell you what the codes mean. Good luck.
