Sloppy Ignition Switch: Normal???
My '07 XJR Ignition Switch feels really weird.
After inserting key, it takes a quarter turn (~ 40 degrees) of slop before encountering first sw position, then another large turn against a strong spring to engage starter
Everyone who has driven the car has asked about it
Is this normal, or is something amiss?

I just bought my 06 XJR today. It's ignition switch is well used too I guess, I can't believe how sloppy it is. I'm wondering if I should have the dealer replace it. It works but I am slightly concerned.
Honestly that was my biggest concern with the car. I inspected quite a few things on the car and that was the only abnormal thing that I noticed. It kinda bugs me though...

I have I suspect a related issue. If the switch is hit from the bottom when the car is running the car will turn off. Never a problem otherwise. Noticed this one time when I hit a bump and my knee hit the bottom of the key. I suspect its switch wear but reluctant to change and have to deal with reprograming the electronics and or having multiple sets of keys one of the ignition and another for the doors if needed
