Default Sounds

Amid all the talk of expensive repairs I thought I'd lighten the mood.

1. Leave it to a kid to show me something new in my car. Before starting my car my 8 year old pushed the J gate a half an inch and the car warned us not to touch the J gate with a pleasant yet urgent chime, unlike any other chime in the car. Have you heard your Jag make this elegant warning? She found a way to make it chime like a Black Eyed Peas song by repeatedly pushing and releasing the J gate. To replicate, do this without putting your key in the ignition. Just sit in your car and push the J gate a bit.

2. The sound of my blinker is so pedestrian. A friend of mine had a late 90s XK and its blinker sounded more elegant. Like someone tapping burled walnut against Peruvian boxwood. Any way to upgrade my blinker sound? (Only you forum members would allow me to get away with such an inane question).

3. Bonus question - My XJ has a cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel. It's a little cave to stow, um, not sure what. My question --- what do you store in your little Jaguar cave? Most manufacturers insert a pull-out drawer in a space like that for coins and such. Not Jaguar. Just a cave that will spill its contents when you test the horsepower.

I have a third party bluetooth/speaker and the interior part of my remote radar detector.

The radar module is therefore reasonably hidden away but I can still just see the lights on the front of it if I need to.

A couple of paper hankerchiefs so I can blow my nose without too much struggling for a hanky !

I have a pair of gloves in there, needed only to scrape ice or snow off the windshield and windows, thanks to the heated sterring wheel.

I store the teeth of my victims in there.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I too have this very same, inane question. My XKR has a lovely "metronome" style flasher tone whereas the XJ's is very common. I would have thought the range topping cars coming out at the same time from the same factory would have shared this small piece of elegance.

Has anyone looked at an upgrade or retrofit of this?

It's synthesised by the BPM driving a speaker directly which produces all the beeps and squeak except for the reverse sensors so I'm afraid you're stuck with it.
