Default steering effort test

Hi all,

Is there an official way to test the weight of the steering?

I have always felt the steering in my 08 XJ requires considerably more effort than any of my other cars.

Thanks for your help.

That doesn't sound right. The steering in my X350s were always light as air. Sounds like you may have a problem with the rack and fluid.

Both of my X350 vehicles are light steering to the touch.

Well It's already had a full change of the power steering fluid and a new power steering pump as I thought perhaps the old one was tired however it's still about the same.

is there any way you can quantity the effort required?

mine feels like bmw steering.

the car is on 255 40 19 tyres at 30 psi.
