Are the steering wheel air bags vin specific? Will a 2007 air bag work in a 2005?

 

One more aspect to watch out for: A steering wheel with vs. without the heating aren't interchangeable, i.e. they won't physically fit.

I think that you just asked about the air bags themselves, not the whole steering wheel.

I would say yes, they should be interchangeble. I f you look into the spare parts catalogue, you will see many different part numbers, but for all VINs somehow you can also find the same part numbers, which is an indication of interchangebility. The only difference was the colour, I would say.

Do you have a problem with yours, or do you just want to have a different styling? I am asking because in case of error messages regarding airbags, it is mostly the failure of a sensor or a bad connection somewhere. The airbags themselves are normally pretty reliable.

Thanks Thomas. I was referring to the air bags. I like the look of the newer one.
