Fully extend steering wheel
Rotate steering wheel to 12 and 6 o'clock position
Key in steering wheel - to keep from locking steering
Disconnect battery - wait 30 minutes to discharge memory
Back of wheel, inset screw in back of plastic housing - remove
Move steering wheel to opposite position (180 degrees)
Remove other inset screw
Air bag will come away from steering wheel; electical wiring is still attached to air bag as with all other steering wheel control components (audio, cruise, etc.) which need to be disconnected.
Should be able to see steering wheel nut and remove.

 

And always set the air bag/horn pad face UP. If for some reason it was to deploy you don't want it launching itself across the neighborhood!

Having broken the two airbag connectors by trying to disassemble them (then having to repair them), I then realized that they are both right angle connectors that simply unfasten by pinching the sides with fingers or long nose pliers. I just did not want anyone else to make the boo-boo that I made.

 

Ever seen the Youtube videos of idiots putting airbags under seat cushions and firing them? So many ways to kill or injure yourself!
