Default Sticky on vendors

May I recommend a sticky on vendors of parts with prices, reviews, market (international vs UK or US) and recommendations?

This was prompted by another bad experience a forum member had with RMT - bad product, bad customer relations.

Recently, I needed an air strut. FCP Euro has a remarkable lifetime guarantee, but total cost was $150 higher than Rock Auto. Both get good recommendations, but FCP has real people who answer the phone with knowledge. Rock Auto works fine if everything goes well... they ship, it arrives, it works. Some comments suggest if something does not work, they are hard to get resolution. I went with Rock Auto because I am thinking about selling the XJ6 and buying an XK convertible, so the lifetime warranty is not worth the extra cost to me.

Ideally, this would be a sub forum where each vendor gets its own sub-category so, for example, comments about RMT are not mixed in by date with comments about FCP and Rock Auto. And European vendors will be of more interest to UK members than US.

As the X350 moves into classic car status, the role of the independent parts vendor becomes increasingly important in keeping the cars on the road. Price becomes important, and for international buyers, certainty. The cost to return a defective part is often not worth it. The vendors get bulk shipping prices, but the return cost is prohibitive.

If agreed, I am happy to start posting my experiences.
