Default Beware buying from Parts Geek!!

Be very sure of what you are buying if you buy from Parts Geek!

I bought an OEM Intake-Air Tube from them for my XJR, and they sent me one for an XJ8; their site showed it was specifically for an XJR, and the picture of the part was correct. There was no way for me to really check the part number first because they use their own numbering system on their ordering site and do not reference the factory P/N.

Now the fun starts: Parts Geek does not pay for return shipping, regardless of whether it was their error or not. You pay for ALL returns, and then get the fun of waiting a minimum of 30 + days for a refund (less re-stocking charges of course). So, If I get any money back, I will be out my initial shipping cost, return cost, and restocking charge.

I will not order from this company again. No wonder their customer reviews were 95% negative. I should have gone there first.

Never dealt with them, but I always check reviews before hand.

Just spent several hundred dollars with them. The return shipping issue for even their problem is a very negative marketing position and I can understand resulting negative feed back. The only problem I had was that the return shipping cost on core items more than wiped out any savings compared to drop off at local stores.

I will not return.

Interesting and thanks, Tom. I have dealt with them in the past but never had to return an item or had a core charge. I will be be careful in any future dealings.
Perhaps they will see fit to respond.

Default not the only ones...

I've looked at parts geek's website but haven't been a customer as they always seemed to be higher cost than someone else. I typically use rock auto but realized that I need to keep the shipping (to & from) in mind as they sometimes ship from many places for the same order. I've dumped more than a couple shopping carts once I got to that step.
Rock auto actually sent me the wrong wheel speed sensors for an e39 beemer on one order and would not provide the return shipping to send them back. When I emailed then called the farthest I could get was one layer in so obviously no satisfaction there.
I still use them but not as liberally as before. I feel pretty safe when ordering parts for my manvan or caddy but for the xjr I'll pay a little more and go to someone that's familiar with jags.
This thread only reinforces that for me...

I, too have had good results from Parts Geek. Quick delivery, sometimes best pricing, and, for me, so far, no screwups. I guess you just need to factor in the possibility of paying return shipping when making a purchasing decision.
