Still a go getter!!!!
Had a chance to blow it out today on a seldom used back highway.
At 55mph, I punched it and in a split second, it seemed, the clock was moving faster then I can remember and popped thru 120 before I could get my foot out of it. The 300 horses (Really 295 they say) had their tails straight out and ears laid back. Although 11 years old now, the old gal still has it and runs like a well oiled clock.
I'm sure the newer xj8L's will do the same thing, but my old gal is still beautiful and I wouldn't trade it for anything else--newer or not.

Ha! I learned long ago, not to document anything illegal.
Really, had I planned such a thing, someone would have had to be with me, although the old gal was smooth as a baby's butt, no way would I have taken my hands off the wheel to snap a picture, but it would be cool to have a picture.
I was just returning from Tractor Supply, which is on the edge of one of the little burgs around here, so instead of going back through that and town, I took a back road answer to my [palatial] country estate (small house in the country). The Hy is well kept and there are a number of excellent straight-a-ways and it just hit me--punch it--and I did.
I had done this once before a couple of years ago on a much bigger Hy and won't tell you when I let up on the go pedal, except to say, I was one who wondered if it really had the electrically limited speed set at 155, I still don't know, but that was what I wanted to find out. It didn't quite get there, but it was close enough to make me giggle all the way home--nuff said. I think it (the car), would still do it. It's well maintained and has good feet and still a beautiful, wonderful automobile. Why not? It's a Jaguar!!!!

Mine being the 2.7Tdvi diesel is a little more sedate ( not by much though ) as she's remapped to 250bhp and 532nm of torque iirc
She just ambles along nicely but moves when you punch it for sure. On a recent trip home from Brighton we were doing around 75mph when my wife got the really bad news she was dreading about her mother.
We were still some 250+ miles and around 3+ hours away and had to get home quickly.
In sport mode and a heavy foot on the pedal she easily got wayyyy up there well into 3 digits approaching the end of the speedo.
