sunroof adjustment

I looked in the service manual and the only adjustment given there is the glass up/down. My glass seems to be too far to the right side (passenger side). The seal doesn't press enough on the driver side edge and has resulted in wind noise. I measured the gap between the roof and glass on both sides and the right side is about 5 mm, the left 7.5 mm. The passenger side seal is firmly pressed, the driver side almost not at all (I can easily slip a piece of paper between the roof and the seal).

Years ago the sunroof assembly was removed to recover the shade. I don't recall any adjustment when going back in, but I really don't remember. Anyone have an experience with this?

Yes. It can be adjusted up or down either side without too much difficulty.

There is a long plastic cover that can, from the front edge, be pulled back hinging at the rear. When you do that you expose two torx bolts at each end.

When loosened you can push the glass up or down to the correct position and tighten off those bolts.

Same both sides.

I know about the screws which adjust the glass up and down. I need to move my glass left or right. That does not seem to be part of those torx screw adjustment.

If you have a look at the sunroof repair kit on Ebay Sunroof Repair Kit for Ford F150 F250 F350 Expedition 2000-2017 Lincoln Mark LT

You will see that installation of this kit will dictate the sideways position of the glass. This kit is the same type as used in your car.

There is no other mechanism to move the glass sideways as far as I know.

If it is installed incorrectly there will be a problem.

I installed such a kit and had no problem other than the up/down positioning.

The whole cassette can be moved im relation to the car thus moving the glass in relation to the aperture, i have redone my headliner and shade in the last week. There are 9 M6 bolts holding the cassette to the roof and the holes are oversize to allow for movement, Access is by dropping the headliner,it should be possible by just lowering it on to the top of the partially reclined front seats/steering wheel.

In this picture you can see infront of the studding i used to suspend the cassette while i got the shade out there are holes along the side, two in front is the type of hole i mean/

Thank you!! So the mounting holes of the cassette do allow slight adjustment.. that's what I need to do to mine then. I couldn't remember if it had adjustment or was keyed to one location.

Related question: not even a year ago I replaced the 5 clips that hold the headliner to the cassette. How do you detach the headliner without breaking all the tabs? They were too expensive for what they were to go through another set.

I guess I lucked out big time when I did this a couple years ago or so. I did not notice any room for positioning the whole frame.

So people who do the headliner replacement including the sunroof need to pay attention to this.

I renewed the Sunroof seal while i was in there, this, with it being a snug fit positioned the glass for me.
